It is now 7 days since Mikes failed attempt to pick up the Commonwealth title up against the Country number one prospect Amir Khan . At first Mike felt he had let everyone down as he had not executed the game plan to sit on Amirs chest and work - now with time to reflect and the support of his team  Mike is content that he tried his best and credit has to go to his opponent who stopped him from doing that. Mike has had a little blow out and will be back in the gym on Monday to tick over with the  intension to fight again in September or October. There has already been a few offers for his services and we will all sit down and decide which is the correct one to take. Everyone involved with Mike were immensely proud of his conduct , effort and performance – IF ONLY !!!!!

TEAM GOMEZ RESPOND TO KHANS OUTBURST

Amir Khans recent pathetic outbursts highlights why the man has gone from a national hero to one the nation want to see beat  -  Khan was the only boxer booed at the recent Hatton mega event and the way he continues to open his mouth before engaging the brain has turned the public against him , why call Gomez an idiot for taking the advice of his health adviser.

Michael was to make the hastily rearranged Press conference on Wednesday but his nutritionist Kevin Maree advised that he stick to his programme of a late training session on the Tuesday evening with a good rest Wednesday morning followed by his last massage. As the camp for this fight had gone perfect Michael decided that he should not change the schedule which had the press conference booked in for the Thursday .For those not aware ,this was only changed for Michael on the Wednesday afternoon and it would have meant 3 hours in a car travelling to Birmingham when he should have been in bed – surely it was not a fair and reasonable request to do this.

As for Michael Gomez being scared , this is laughable as we all know that he is not scared of anything. Maybe it is the other way round as all through this camp we have had requests to keep Michael low key and indeed our request for Reyes gloves was flatly turned down .Michael will be there on Saturday and let’s see if Amir Khan is brave enough to stand and have a fight , if he does then we may get the outcome the public want which is a horizontal Amir Khan.

MICHAEL GOMEZ - Lost last night in his bid to win back his old British S-F weight title with a controversial 6th round stoppage to Carl Johannson . Mike pushed the fight from the beginning to Carl and was having great early success , however as the fight went on the boxing skills of Johannson was turning the fight his way, particular at the end of each round. Mike has only had 6 rounds of completive boxing in the last 20 months and this was shown as he just tried to dig out the win and not use any of his old boxing skills and head movement. It was a good effort , but the chance to take the opportunity did not pay off and we are all sure that with a few more contests behind him in this comeback then Gomez would have won. Mike is now hoping for Carl to win against Mitchell and then he can have the rematch which was promised by Carl and Maloney after the fight when they had a very civil and respectful chat.
